As an American businessperson based in Copenhagen (married to a Danish executive), I am very familiar with the challenges common to native Danish speakers. I coach clients from various industries in formal and informal presentation skills. I also copyedit presentation slides, websites, and academic papers. I teach courses in Denmark on public speaking, and worked previously at New York University's business school, Roskilde University, and CBS.
As a professional who has worked in both the corporate and academic worlds, I know what makes a strong, engaging speech. While working at NYU, I traveled around the world organizing nearly 2,000 international presentations - given by top businessmen and women, academics, politicians, and other leaders, of many different nationalities. All these presentations were given in English, and I observed the many ways in which non-native English speakers can succeed or fail when presenting important material in the English language. I love to see people succeed, and I understand the discomfort and fear many have when presenting in a foreign language. My coaching reflects the sensitivity and insight needed for working with any level of English language.
There are countless books on the subject of public speaking, but there is no single ‘right way’ to do it. I focus on what you say, how you say it, and how to best communicate the messages that you feel passionate about, in a way that is authentically you.
